Big dog club

Here's a well coloured one from Monday.

It was a bit chilly dusk Monday with a biting northerly, frequent light sleet and snow showers, snow blowing off the grass, lambs bleating in the cold.

Stood up under a tree overlooking a dry run where they come scouting, had a bit of a wait, an hour or so, sleet freezing on the mod, then there he comes, 150 yd, 100yd, 80 yd, keep calm, 60 yd he looked up and dropped instantly to a shot between the eyes.

He couldn't see me, or hear me with the wind, or scent me with the wind direction. That's foxing for me, careful, close and humane.

I didn't measure him but the rifle is 40" and he was way heavy and in tip top condition.

Thanks, chaps, that was the second big fox on that piece of land in the last few weeks.

Both in really good condition, good teeth, thick dense pelt and heavy, and this last one much longer than archie1234's of early March.

Not too foggy today and out again later
