Martin&Oakley
Hi all, Well i've been on this site all day waiting to post, many thanks to the admin that just approved me. Quick bit about me. Ex-Mil. Bought gundog, bought shotgun (baikal 12g, cheap and cheerfull). itching to get out there. I've done abot 8-9 clay days at broomhills before it closed! waiting for new owners to offically open up and I've done a day out on field trial training shooting pheastants. Why I'm here, improve my shooting. Shotguns are alien to me! At somepoint train myself to work my dog (Oakley) unsure of what route to take, yet. though the training article on deer stalking caught my eye. Anyway i will keep it sort of short. Martin&Oakley
Aris, is it only supervised/coached shoots at ac sporting? I'm no Jedi shot with a shotgun, I'd like to think I know where to aim on clays. I'm looking at live quarry shooting rather then clays, the dog my get confused with 50 pieces of clay to retrieve lol. They will want to supervise first time you go so they know you are safe with a gun, but otherwise you can shoot on your own. There are trappers (at least on the sporting stand) too, so you can shoot alone with no difficulty. If you need coaching, it may well be worth joining as a member as they include several coaching lessons with the membership fee, plus you get cheaper clays to boot.
