Lincolnshire pheasant shoot - sydicate places

Recommended Posts

Myself and a few shooting associates are looking to take on a woodland shoot in Lincolnshire close to Market Rasen

We have been in discussion with the Forestry Commission and have also viewed the woods in question to try to assess and write up a plan going forward. Now the woods are going to tender so much will depend on our application being accepted but for us to be able to make a successful shoot we need to fill our syndicate places.

So with a bit of forward thinking we are trying to get a gauge of potential interested parties so we know roughly where we will be when it comes to filling these places.

The shoot will be based around a safe, fun day where everyone can enjoy themselves and where numbers are not important. Of course we will all do our best to achieve a decent bag and hope everyone get a bit of shooting but we will make no promises. Ultimately the aim will be for friendly fun days shooting where a group of like minding people can get together for a bit of banter and hopefully some good sport.

We will be releasing pheasants as well as encouraging the existing wild stock. The shoot will be on a walk one stand one basis with two teams of 8 or 10 guns.

We would encourage guns with dogs but this is not essential so don’t let that put you off.

We will be looking at around 10 shoot days which will be held on Saturdays.

We don’t plan on asking a lot from our syndicate members as far as work goes as this will be covered by the shoot captains.

We may also have organised vermin shoots prior to the birds being released and maybe at the end of the season also.

All members, as expected would need to provide a copy of shotgun certificate and valid insurance ie. BASC membership.

Within the next few weeks I will know a bit more but for now if you think you may be interested in joining this shoot then please send me a PM with some details about yourself along with some contact details and I shall log you down. Ideally if you have an email address that I can contact you on as then I can send out a blanket email updating any interested people as I get more info.

The more I know the more I will be able to keep any interested parties up to date. By sending me a PM I will not hold you to anything but your details will be noted as a potentially interested person.

I am not going to talk about numbers and figures at this stage as it would be pointless but what I will say is it’s not going to be expensive shooting as this will be aimed to cater for the working man.

Please note that at present this all depends on our application being accepted. We have been in contact with the Forestry Commission and the local ranger and signs are positive.

So, If you think you might be interested in a place should everything go ahead please drop me a PM.

Cheers Colin

***UPDATE****

Thank you to everyone who showed an interest but I am afraid we will not be going ahead with this project. We have been deep in discussion with the Foretry Commission over the last couple of days and there just seems to be too much ''red tape'' for our liking.

They were happy with our plans and the ideas we had going into this but unfortunately we were not entirely happy with the limitations we would be under.

I will be email everyone who declared thier interest with me this evening to confirm this. I am sorry to anyone who was genuinely interested in this but there is no-one more dissapointed than me.

All the best

Colin

Hi Folks, I too have in the past wasted much time and effort with the forestry commission also in lincolnshire,I was in the process of looking round some 190 ha over a week only to find several guys roost shooting ,when asked if they were the out going shoot they said no, they just shot it when and where they liked! when I asked the forestry com. about this the said that if we found anyone doing this after I took the lease ,the police should be told as they could not be held responsible for unauthorised shooting! By shear chance I found the previous tenant who had the same problems, the police did not want to know, the forestry did not want to know,so he kick up all hell with forestry com. his lease was cancelled and he got his money back. You should be aware of all the restrictions they put on you ,they can include horrendous insurance policy terms, possibly no shooting of deer or woodcock ,public rights of ways, warning signage to be put in place and taken down on shoot days any horse owners in the area to be asked for their permission to shoot any woodland that is near to their land ,and if they refuse permission to shoot you will not be able to shoot!

I know shooting can be hard to find some times ,but the way I got all my game shooting over the past 30 years was by placing a small advert in a county wide ,weekly press,it has always worked for me,it

could surprise you what is really out there for not a lot of money ,the shoot I have now is 400 acre I have had it 6 years its a mixed farm, 4 guns ,duck, all game in season, pigeons rabbits all year. £400 per year each, and they even leave us half an acre of maize and an acre of mustard. All this from a well worded advert. Forget the forestry, not worth the hassle good luck !,Quadimodo
