ChrisAsh
Morning all Just wondered what sort of reduction you would get from using size 7,5 or size 9 shot at a range of say 50 metres with all other things being standard assuming the smaller shot will fall off in velocity faster than the heavier shot Is there a maximum accepted range for No9, obviously its more than comfortable at a skeet range between stations 1 and 7 about 38 metres
TIGHTCHOKE
I've gone looking for some data that I have printed at home, now looking across the internet! Edited March 23, 2013 by TIGHTCHOKE
Dekers
Is it really 38 metres from anywhere on a skeet layout? You must be shooting VERY late on some of the targets! and........ VERY early on 1 ?? There is out of bounds as well! Edited March 23, 2013 by Dekers
seeker
Lyman 4th he say:- 7.5s -1200 fps/ 4ft.lbs @ 3yds will be doing 675 fps/ 1.3 ft.lbs @ 40 yds. 9s - 1200 fps / 2.4 ft.lbs @ 3yd will be doing 625 fps / 0.7 ft.lbs @ 40 yds. IIRC Eley used to reckon a hit with 2 pellets @ 0.5 ft.lbs would break most clays? ?? So just keep practising.
ChrisAsh
and........ VERY early on 1 ?? There is out of bounds as well! I understand the skeet range to be 19 metres from station to centre peg and out of bounds to be 44 metres so if you shoot late on station one or seven then easy to get 38 metres
ChrisAsh
Thanks seeker quite a difference between the two, but quite a few more shot between the two to fill in any pattern gaps
