Paul@Ribchester
Just got back from Great Ouseburn, farmer rang stating that his rape was getting hammered. Drove two hours up yesterday morning in treacherous conditions, the A59 was still partially blocked with drifting snow. Arrived at fields which has a dusting of snow on them and identified quite a weak flight line running between the two fields. There was a bitterly Easterly Wind blowing but set up hide and seeks, too windy for bouncer and deeks blowing everywhere. Birds thundering past on the wind not showing much interest in pattern. Couple bagged in first hour. Tried the rotary machine but the hyper flappers were blowing inside out and back to front! Decided to give it up as a bad job at about five and go for a couple of pints. Got back to truck and cooked one of the pigeons breasts and had them on a bun with a bottle of red. Up at half five this morning back out to hide and pretty much same conditions. Gave up mid afternoon and drove hone. Total of twelve woodies (one young one) and five crows. Still an enjoyable couple of days though. Paul. JDog
I love the idea of 'hide and seeks'.
Sean Richo
Did you sleep in your van as I take it you did not drive after the bottle of red?
delburt0
Give it up , wait till it warms dries and they break, just hope rape ain't 6 foot tall by the time we take our thermals off
Paul@Ribchester
Yes Sean, I slept in my truck with a good quality sleeping bag. Right by the field so I could see when they started moving this morning. It was chilly last night though especially when I had to lean outside for a middle of the night pee.......!! Delburt, got to take the rough with the smooth when the farmer rings otherwise someone else will get the shooting! Just eating pigeon in pita bread now with onion, peppers, garlic, watercress salad and a light covering of hoysin sauce. Have a good evening folks.... JDog
I like your style and the amount of effort you went through to shoot the fields. Pity the pigeons did not play ball.

Paul@Ribchester
The farmer had lots of gas guns out but to be honest the birds just took off and landed a few hundred yards away, as for the scarecrow's they were nearly landing on them. Its a fairly new permission so I will show a lot of willing, might even get the chance to invite some lads (or girls) off here to give me a hand in the future.....
