pigeon controller
Hi Guys, I've been offered a quad that has been stripped down at my wifes stable yard . Its a 125cc Mototech and it has the remains of a number plate on it . How can I check of it is stolen or do I just use it off road and run the risk ( what is the penalty besides loosing my ticket) It would be a great help in carting all my gear across fields.? Highbird70
Check if there is a chassy number, that should help with the checks Hi Guys, I've been offered a quad that has been stripped down at my wifes stable yard . Dirtboy
If it was road legal and some stage as suggested by the remnants of a reg plate it sould also have a tax disk somewhere which may give you the full reg of it. I would guess a call to DVLA with this might help ? As Highbird said there shoudl also be a chassis plate on my Honda its more liek a tag than a car vin plate under the body panels affixed to the frame. Ask the seller for the V5 etc ? As for the penalty well I guess they woudl take it off you so you loose what ever you spend on it as a minimum, not sure if you would be charged with an offence but of you were any gun or FA licencing would be troublesome I feel ! A quad for moving gear over the fields is awesome, less time lugging and more time shooting.
Bleeh
Also keep us updated, if it is stolen I want to know what happens next!
Kes
If in any doubt - dont, as you may be the next 'owner' its nicked from. Firmly against supporting the 'fell off the back of a lorry' brigade. Might it not be simpler just to ask fro proof of ownership ? A receipt ? jackinbox99
I didnt think cops or dvla were allowed to check vehicles for you. The only way ive known is to check reg number against one of the online vehicle checks like hpi or rac. Not sure if they can run the same check against just the chasis number. Kes
We may moan about the police attitude to firearms but if you let them know it may be a problem because of the way its been offered - I am certain they will check, quads are a favourite steal after all. Guest rimotu66
Why was it stripped down? Havnt heard of the make before so guess its a cheap Chinese pile of ****, not worth the hassle of rebuilding. Cant believe your asking if you should 'run the risk' as you obviously know your ticket/s are at risk if you get don't for receiving. Am with Kes on this one, don't line the pockets of thieving parasites.
