Frank
Thanks Cranfeild for the help. Had some probs for some reason, to get picture up, sorted now. Story about today below: Typical, lovely day yesterday, but was busy and could not get out till today, for a spot of ferreting and it was heavy showers, on and off. Arrived nice and early, at day break, with my 2 jills. the lighter polecat, i have, seems to be slow to start this season and has never really prooved her self to me, she keeps going in and coming out I then enter my darker polecat jill, who is coming on great so far and she allways finds rabbits and bolts them, wears the other one does not. Im seriuosly, thinking of giving her to the warren in the sky, so to speak. Ill give her to the end of the season and if she does not buck her ideas up, she is gone. Anyhow, my darker poley, worked great, went deep and did not leave house, till all the bury was cleaned. Rain started falling heavy, so called it a day and went home with 3 fat bunnys. Pic below., notice, how i only took a pic of my darker polecat jill, the lighter one stayed in the box, on the verge of being fired . She is tame as a kitten though and good company for my dark jill, so will give her to spring and then see what ill do. Frank.

Cranfield
Frank, don't be too quick to give up on her, she may be being intimidated by your other ferret. Try her on her own in a small set of holes and give her plenty of time. Some ferrets don't like wet days, I know I don't.

Poacher
i know nothing about ferreting but if when you put the lighter polecat in you could try covering the hole behind her (perhaps with the box or something) then she would have to go down, if you see what i mean..maybe worth a try... ..good work as usual

Kirky, she is not on death row yet. Frank.

Frank
She actually goes down really, but not deep, if you get my drift. If a bunny is in her way, it bolts and she comes out of another hole She might come on yet, i wont be too hasty, might leave her till next season, as she is only 6 mont old. Frank. Ferret Master
When my youngest jill started ferreting she just wandered about the holes. These days she runs round them at light speed popping up one side of the bury and 3 seconds later out the otherside. FM

Ferretboy111
Doesnt seem to me like there is anything wrong with her Frank, shes bolting the rabbits, she might just need alittle more training/ taking out, dont forget they are still very young! Your probly doing what i do and use the ones that you know work and leaving the ones that dont really at home so they dont get a chance to improve. 1 of my last years kits loves rabbiting, the only trouble is, is that she races around the warrens, runs out the holes and dances about like a sausage and then dives back in or runs and runs and runs, and my 2 coloured hobs from show stock i got 3/4 years ago are brilliant at working but they started off poorly with little bolts. Keep at it id say, or work her with one of the other ferrets so she knows what to do abit more. Alex
Frank
Thanks Alex. True what you say mate. When the light jill does not bolt, i turn to the more used dark poley. I think i might take her out on her own soon and that way, i have no choice but to use her. As my hob and dark poley seem to get used the most, the light jill is not getting much chance at them. Thanks, Frank.

She is still young Frank what i do if i have one not interestd do some pipe work with her, drainage pipes with bends leave a bit of kibble down the pipe and just putting her in eventualy she will see will go down the holes no probs, like all animals they some need training.
