Many years ago me and the wife were talking about taking our bike test and spending weekends out on the open road.....then she became pregnant and all that got cancelled.....

At the time i was riding around on my 125 and we purchased a Kawasaki 250 Ltd, which was a runner at the time and just required the front suspension replacing for the mot..

well for the last 10 years it as sat in our shed, and today in a fit of madness, i dragged it out of its hibernation state...

looks like i have some work to do on it at present,

I forgot how heavy it is to move but we managed to get it out of the shed and now its covered up on the decking waiting for me to start tinkering with it tomorrow, god knows where im going to start, but i will take a look at the engine side tomorrow and get some new oil into her and drain any old fuel still in the tank.

I know it required a battery also, lets see what tomorrow brings and if i can get it running....then it will be brakes and tyres etc

Just thought that i would do her up and sale it and then get myself another 125cc so i can ride about on the weekends again

If its been sat that long whatever you do don't try and run it straight off. Like you said engine out oil change head off and clean and New fule in and check for perished lines hoses and your brakes will need a strip and clean. My brother had a tl125 sat for years and seized it and bugged it iv got it in my garage ready for re building take your time and enjoy it

Clean out the carbs as old fuel will have gunged them up, also drop some engine oil through the spark plug holes as it will be as dry as a wottsit in there and you old risk scoring the bores, be gentle with her!, gently kick it over if it has a kick start as the starter motor will be a bit harsh, if no kick just very very short bursts on the button to get the oil you put in the plug holes on the liners, leave the plugs out for the first 10 seconds, then pop them in. All the bet with it, get some pics up

Make sure you take the plugs out and drip about a teaspoon of oil down each bore, then turn the engine over without the ignition on using the kickstart if it has one.I would think long and hard about spending any money on it cos 250's are not popular since the 125 law came in.I'm guessing the engine is the same as the Z250-not a good unit even out of the crate.

Good fun sorting it out though mate, I'm doing a 1988 zx10 that has been sitting in a garage for 8 years all the girl needed was a real intensive clean and full service she started (eventually) now sorting all the seized calipers and master cylinders, some good sites on the net though for parts, good luck with it.
