m3vert
As above just picked up a very tidy 2nd hand Escort, it's the 3" version new model. Stripped it and cleaned it as I noticed the fore-end was a little loose. In the box that had the spare chokes, choke key etc there was an O ring that I presumed was a spare for the gas piston. However I thought there would have been an O ring washer on the cap as the cap took a lot of tightening and never really felt tight! I fitted the spare O ring and the cap tightened up much better and fore-end is now sitting spot on! So question is, should this O ring be fitted or not??? Thanks in advance :-)
OvEr_KiLL
i asked the same question a short while ago, and the answer is there is no o ring in the end cap does it have the extended chokes?
m3vert
No it doesn't have extended chokes, so the fore end should be loose without an o ring??.?
OvEr_KiLL
well my forend isnt loose and i dont have a o ring in there, just screw it down tight lol the newer escorts have the extended chokes
bruno22rf
My lad has an early 20g Escort and it deffo has an O ring inside the cap.,
OvEr_KiLL
to be honest mate, it doesnt sound like a new model if it hasnt got extended chokes and needs an o ring in the end cap!
bigman
I have older model , fore end is tight and no o ring in end cap .
m3vert
Ok have stripped it again this morning, I noticed I had the O ring that is at the gas piston fitted at the bottom of the threaded section (so there was a gap between the Oring and gas piston if that makes sense?) When I slid that O ring down to meet the top of the gas piston then reassembled the fore end is now tight WITHOUT the O ring :-) I am now presuming it is all correct? I bought it off a lad on here and he said it still has 18-24months warranty and is the newer model, i have no reason not to believe him. It does have the curvy Stock. Away out with it just now so fingers crossed lol
steve_b_wales
There were a few 'newer' models produced, each one replacing the previous. The very latest has exterior chokes, which are silver in colour. None of these models, no matter how old/new, has 'O' rings fitted under the end cap.
