Martin&Oakley
Hi all, I've been meaning to find out what the markings on my shotgun are. I have now taken some pictures, excuse dirt as im currently cleaning it. Gun is a Baikal MP27EM1C 12G O/U. Also the chokes that came with it have the following on them: top choke, F-LEAD and bottom choke, M-LEAD/F-STEEL Before any rants come in about searching online. I have, hence here we are. WelshAndy
your gun is full and half choke (full for steel) the 76mm is chamber length, and the others are pressure numbers and serial numbers (i think)
Martin&Oakley
so i shouldn't ever use steel in my gun as its only the choke that's steel proofed.

You should never use steel in your gun as your chokes are to tight, half choke is the equivalent to full choke with steel. Bismuth or another alternative non toxic load should be ok. yickdaz
you can use up to half choke for steel that's why it says M- for modified on the bottom barrel which is half choke, so ok using the bottom barrel only on steel
Martin&Oakley
Sorry guys I wasn't looking to shoot steel through the gun. But thanks for the heads up. Strange that I should have a choke for steel but the barrels are not steel proofed. Do I go half/half or half/3 quarter?
WelshAndy
Are they fixed chokes that you are going to open? And it would depend on what you will be shooting with it. I use 1/4 and 1/2 for 90% of my shooting.
oscarsdad
Sorry guys I wasn't looking to shoot steel through the gun. But thanks for the heads up. Strange that I should have a choke for steel but the barrels are not steel proofed. Do I go half/half or half/3 quarter? It's not the choke that's proofed for steel, but that choke is suitable for steel in the right gun.
Martin&Oakley
There not fixed, I seem to hit well with the half. Would I be at a disadvantage by having to halves?
