What has happened to Great Britain?

To be fair, the potholes are becoming a bit of a nightmare, playing havoc with the suspension on the Bentley.

I find that adjusting the damper settings from sport to comfort on the Bentley will absorb most of the potholes. Hope that helps :good:

I have travelled all over the world, and every time the plane flies over this island i am amazed at how stunning and green it looks, without doubt this is still an amazing place to live, all this hype and hatred stirred up by the tabloids is because they need to sell papers.

It will never be utopia but look around you,you have a house ,food, computer, most of us shoot and roam around beautiful landscapes, wake up and smell the coffee,it ain't perfect and it might be slightly broke, but i don't want it fixing.

This green and pleasant land(view from my garden)

Absolutely right! I am by no means the oldest on here, but have seen more than 5 decades and travelled a fair bit of the globe during that time, and one thing the British seem to do better than any other country is whine about how rubbish we are! We have our problems, and we have some scummy and violent areas of the country, but we had those in the 50s and 60s as well. We moan about immigrants and 'foreigners' but that's nothing new either, and some of the most idle, feckless and violent people I have met have been home- grown Brits as well. The poisonous bile spewed out by some of the daily rags like the Daily Wail etc does seem to be more than ever though, looking at the Britain in the past through a rose-tinted brain, people like to believe bad news. We do have a good country, maybe it was never 'great', - depends on your individual viewpoint, but it is MY country and I ain't ashamed of that!

Did you open your shop or was it allocated to you by the state?

The point is we all have choices, even if you live in council housing you can swap with other parts of the country.

My view was to show the green and pleasant aspect,my town although small has it's drop outs and drunks as any other town, and i worked in the east end of london for a lot of years so can imagine the scene outside your shop, but that is not happening everywhere, this is a country with huge diversities ,from village to city and everything in between.

We are a democracy(or one of the best versions you will get) and you can do things of your own free will you can change your life around and do something different, there are opportunities for people who want to do something with their lives.People who go for it usually succeed, and i'm not talking millionaire here but just a decent standard of life, that is what makes this country great.

At least you have the right to fight back there!! Are hands are tied over here!!

I dont really agree with this, a few times ive been in a position where i have had to fight back. On all occasions the police were involved and i ended up without a criminal record and with the opportunity to press charges against the other individuals involved. Its a case of using reasonable force, you are allowed to defend yourself in this country, the law doesnt expect you to be a victim.

Lol glad to see they are a tourist attraction. Its funny though i spent a bit of time driving around america and i was pretty surprised at just how bad some of their roads were, they make ours look like flatly skimmed walls. Stretches of their roads seem to be sponsored by companies in exchange for advertising on them, its a pretty good idea i think and something we should try over here.

Me come to England, poor and broke,
Go down dole, see labour bloke,
Fill in form, Stand around,
Kind man gives me plenty pound.
Me thank him very much, Then he Say
"You come next week, Get more pay."
Me writes a letter to Pakistan,
Tell all my friends come as quickly as can.
All is nicely settled down
Nice big house in Bradford town.
Twenty families living up,
Twice as many living down.
More in garden in a tent,
Social Services pay the rent,
Six months later, Big bank roll,
Go down labout, draw mor Dole.
Wife wants glasses, teeth and pills,
All is free, Get no bills.
Me think England is damned fine place,
Much too nice for a white man race.
But God Bless White man, Big and Small,
he pays tax to keep us all.
If you don't like coloured man,
There's Plenty Room in Pakistan

Yes.......from the '70s.

It's a small-minded bigoted poem that suggests white people work and immigrants are spongers.

And as far as I can tell it is about Pakistani bloke with a Jamaican accent. :hmm:

It sounded more Chinese in my head tbh, either way basically prejudiced dribble

You seem to be taking it too seriously

You seem to think it's acceptable. See, we can both make snap judgements about each other.

All I'm doing is countering yet another mindless post that would have the casual observer, anti hunting or not, see all shooters are right wing bigots that are out of touch with the rest of the country.

The poem just made me cringe, and ignoring was to me as good as accepting it as normal, which it ain't.

BIGOT (disambiguation),, i certainly wasn,t born in 1598 when that word was first spoken ( racist comment ) nor was i born in france, germany nor italy where the word is used ,,,, for people who dont understand the word bigot i will let you know that I am not an hypocrite, and any person using the word has a sound mind to the knowledge of hypocrisy and stand by that belief of small mind

anti ??? i would think not, too much time spent shooting as oppose to walking down that road ,pity some people dont have the same attitude rather then trying to pick the fault of other peoples jokes, morals and attitudes along with what they believe !
