WinchesterDave
I fired the cheddites for the first time on Sunday, and I noticed the amount of rubbish coming out of the end on some, it was a bit off putting!
BlaserF3
The only purpose of the wad is to eject the shot from the barrel. It's done it's job as soon as the shot exits from the muzzle. Disintegrating wads are quite common today as proper fibre wads would be too expensive to load. I find Express fibres OK and Hull are really good. hawkeye
Well one of the lads i shoot with had a slab that were like confetti. So he did an experiment he put half the slab sat next to a radiator for a week and left the others in his garage . beeredup
would think the wet wads would swell a little bit and increase the pressure??
BlaserF3
would think the wet wads would swell a little bit and increase the pressure?? How are the wads going to become wet, they are in a plastic tube in a cardboard box. I was being pedantic with my comment about wet and dry. I think that hawkeye is having a wind up moment I've shot many thousands of fibre wad cartriges and it's only the "cheaper" one's that become confetti. Try Hull Pro Fibre if you want an excellent fibre load. I use Express High Velocity and there is no confetti with them. You get what you pay for. BlaserF3
Does anyone use Hull comp x 28g 7.5 plastic Hey...this is about fibre not flipping plastic..really some people
Will Poon
Mike , I was using the fibre ones at first got through about 50 ish I was very impressed I thought I was using 21g not 28, so I got 2 more boxes from the club but plastic wad ones still extremely impressed with the little recoil it had. You know I've been using Cheddites for about a year or so now plus some eley Olympics , but these Hull comp x were definitely different On the skeet range they the clays were being vaporised ! BlaserF3
Will, I'm glad that you've realised that you don't need to be battered to death with recoil just to break a few clays. I don't like it one little bit that's why I've only used "soft" 24gms for a few years now.
webber
Have a look at Fiocchi Top is. The fibre wad very rarely fragments. Fiocchi Top One - Budget Clay Shotgun CartridgesBy: Don Brunt Fiocchi’s recent resurgence in the UK is no accident, Graham Morris formerly of Eley knows what makes a good shell and he has had a hand in producing a range tailored to the UK market. The Top One is a solid performer at a reasonable price and consequently has been selling well around the country. It produces good kills at range without being too tight for closer shots, not the fastest here but a good all round sporting load, also available in a 24 gram version. http://www.norgascartridges.co.uk webber Edited May 22, 2013 by webber

SakoQuad
Both CompX and Superfasts vary from batch to batch in how much confetti is produced. The first lot I bought produced it the second didn't. I bought a third lot (6 thousand Superfasts) last year and they produced none at all, ditto the thousands of CompX bought by a mate at the same time. We both bought more of our respective favourites in February / March this year and they both now produce some confetti. Not enough to make either of us want to change to another shell though! Damp storage has little to do with it as my cartridges are stored in a centrally heated house, it can only be the difference in the materials used for the wads which is clearly different between one batch and another. The plaswads in both are excellent but not allowed on most of the grounds I use.
