Blackbart
Is it not a bit early to be getting them ?
HotShot!
Is it not a bit early to be getting them ? You say that. However if I release them at six weeks it will be the end of july / start of august. Therefore having a month and a bit to mature and be fit ready for the first partridge and duck day. Last year was a bit embarrassing because they were not quite fit enough. Edited May 13, 2013 by HotShot!

HotShot!
haha had them for a few hours and the hessian is almost black ! that's why i am rearing the shed where we used to have weened pigs. The slats are perfect because the **** drops straight through into slurry pit and when finished just pressure wash out. Simples ! (i hope )

Unless your calender is different to mine 6 weeks will be the end of June and not end of July ? Just thinking of the extra feed cost time etc.

highseas
ducks are simple as hell to rear. we used to do 2000 for shooting, keep em fed and don't be afraid to turn the heat off after 10 days-2 weeks, you wont got far rong
beesley121
Ducks are ridiculously easy to rear. It's just the mess they make that hurts

Also is it true I have to provide a bit of water for them to swim in so they can stay afloat later in life. Something to do with oil glands ? Help would be much appreciated.
