CPSA v BASC

Recommended Posts

My yearly subscription is up soon with CPSA and I'm thinking what to do next, stay with them or go somewhere else , I've only shot twice in a reg comp and they were an eye opener to say the least. Or do I join BASC , I only shoot on clay grounds so they have insurance already so what are the options thanks :)

Will,

In my humble opinion you should belong to an organization for a number of reasons. The obvious one is insurance but tbh you could arrange that with your home insurance for very little extra probably £10 to £15 pa.

If you have even the slightest thought about shooting clays competitively then I suggest you re-join the CPSA. (Anyone with a Perazzi should shoot clays competitively :whistling: )

If you are certain you won't go down the competitive route and you don't shoot game or pests I would still recommend BASC. They are at the forefront of protecting the rights of shotgun & firearms owners. They work tirelessly lobbying both the UK and EU law makers on behalf of legitimate gun owners. Their legal team are there if ever you should be unfortunate enough to need them and I would respectfully suggest they are the most experienced firearms specialists in the UK.

As a competitive clay shooter I have to be in the CPSA and as an occasional game & pigeon shooter I also am a member of BASC, even this duel membership still only costs less than a pint a week

So you choose, but please think hard before (or if) you decide not to go with either.
