davew
My 12 dogs eat mainly raw chicken including bone, liver, lungs, heart, feet and they do look well on it. I have noticed that when we are out walking that they eat a lot of grass so I may give them some micronised flaked peas to get some greens in their diet. Any thoughts or comments appreciated. PERCE
The only greens mine get is the Sunday dinner peelings blended up excluding the potato & onion. I usually chuck in any veg, apples etc that's beyond our consumption along with whole raw eggs. I don't feed a great deal of this though. Their normal diet is tripe, chicken carcass, beef lights, lamb & salmon frames. Edited June 6, 2013 by PERCE
davew
I do give them eggs now and again and whole herrings or mackerel, maybe I'm over thinking the greens thing.
darren m
my dogs eat grass by the kart load , it really gets on my nerves , but i,m not sure it means they are lacking in anything would be very interested to know if this was the case , as i would love to stop them constantly grazing. JohnFreeman1310
Isn't onion toxic to dogs? We give ours come mackerel half a tin mixed with his food twice a week just for something different and the oils.
PERCE
Apparently, that's why I don't give mine it.
Sian
Dogs are omnivores - they like plant matter - wild dogs eat lots of vegetation and berries.
davew
Always thought they were carnivores ( look at their teeth ) but yes they will eat fruit etc at times.

Cats classified as carnivores but our old Tom used to like rich fruit cake and bananas!
