Dougy
They could. And they could end up ruining the barrel. Is it worth the risk. It's the most delicate part of the entire rifle.
zx10mike
yes but you need to buy tools and the money would be better spent getting someone who knows there onions to do it remember the fdirst time you tried to tie your shoes i would not use my rifle to experiment on
Underdog
Done loads. Many a crown gets dinged, rod damage or rust damage. Polishing or cutting is possible to fix any crown.i There are no short cuts like using a drill and drill bits instance. A drill in my opinion is a bad tool to use period. Time and by hand and a good magnifying glass. Simple tools, homemade even and fine abrasives. The secret is to not keep still! Move around the barrel as you gently hand cut the crown. A good lathe helps but reverse it too. Cheap airguns notorious for bad crown finnishing. However uniform multi directional polishing makes a poor shooter much better. A 222 Wheirach I had was a lousy shooter and it was the crown from new. Soon sorted it by myself and no machining. U.
