Teal
What recipe do you recommend for hare frank -got one marinading at the moment. Good bag john- well done, agree with what you're saying, a lot of farmers would chuck a myxy rabbit in if their population gets too much. What i usually do is, rap it well in tin foil, with real butter, organo and salt, then pop in the oven for 2 to 3 hours on 180.C . Another way i sometimes do is, get a casserole dish, put an inch of water, little red wine, butter, crushed garlic clove, black paper and pop in oven as above for heat and time. John, must bring the ferrets down soon, to help you thin out them bunnys. What you reckon to the weather today, crazy or what , ******* hurricane out their Im off to ferret some new ground tommorow, hope this weather settles a wee bit. Frank. Teal
marinaded the hare for 24 hours and then cooked it with alittle bit of vegetable stock in the pan, poured away marinade. Tasted absolutely lovely Tried it when I was younger and it was far too gamey, but this one was delicious, reckon the marinade and short hanging time helped. dazzyboi
I really like the look of that, for some reason i had in my mind that the lamp would be alot more money than that, its affordable i suppose I think i may give it a bash, im going to need a lamp anyway as im getting my .17hmr soon so its out for the rabbit and foxes at night. When your out do you take out a small torch aswel just to use as a guide to get around? Im guessing that battery pack that slings over your shoulder comes with the lamp itself and aint too much bother when out in the field? When your out do you take out a small torch aswel just to use as a guide to get around? Im guessing that battery pack that slings over your shoulder comes with the lamp itself and aint too much bother when out in the field? Sorry for the late reply! I've been away for the weekend and have been net-less. I also have a light that I can wear on my head over my hat, I believe it's called a LED Lenser but I'll check on that for definite tomorrow. It's out in the car but I've been in that car for long enough today . It's an LED light and it takes 3 AAA batteries, good for walking around or doing small jobs when out as your hands are both free and the lamp battery isn't being used. It's got three straps on it, one each side of your head and one over the top, light is at the front and batteries at the back. I find it very useful! Edited to add the picture below... As for the battery sling, I find it a pain in the proverbial at the moment. It works and is good enough not to be replaced however I find my shoulder getting a bit achey with it after a while and I'm going to get a cheap quiet backpack and put the battery in there in the future. That'll disperse the weight more evenly and keep the battery out of the way, can also carry other items in it too! Going to cut off any metal zip handles and replace them with thread or twine. Look on the well known auction site i found a deben battery belt kit in which you can fit 2 x 7Ah batteries (1 either side) for £14.
