beeredup
Bullet had to have an emergency op yesterday to remove an obstruction from his intestine! it turns out he has eaten a stone!!! he is now recovering at home but the vets had said it would of killed him eventually. i am away at sea at the moment and he was being sick and not eating much so the wife decided to take him to the vets just incase and luckily her hunch was spot on or Bullet might not be with us anymore!! they also found his missing testicle too its in his inguinal region he is supposed to be getting castrated in a fortnight so i am kinda wondering why they didnt just do that under the same anaesthetic?? but i will ask the vets that when i get home? oh well i am very relieved the wife acted on her gut feeling

Asa Bear
My first dog (golden retriever) died after swallowing stones. I was @12 and felt terrible guilt as I used to throw them for him to fetch as we walked the disused railway lines. I'm glad Bullet's ok, keep an eye on him. hunters_return
Beeredup, I hope Bullet makes a full recovery. It is a very big op. My Springer Archie, is a stone addict (will have to keep an eye on that) He has just got over 2 emergency ops for the same reason as Bullet. The first op was to remove 4 socks, the second to untangle his intestine due to not being able to stay still to recover. Lots of anguish and a very hefty bill later he is fully recovered. beeredup
yeah my wife spent all of yesterday removing the stones from our garden as thats where the stone appears to of come from on comparison to what we had there and its now pebble free ( i am sure bullet will confirm this later!!) he has been a good pup so far never really chewing anything he shouldnt as we have given him lots of antlers and kongs etc to keep him occupied he has on a few occassions brought stones in from the garden but drops em at mine of the wifes feet. fingers crossed he hasnt got the taste for stones and this has given him a shock!
