stubby
out today with the mossberg, using subsonic cart's, on three separate occasions after firing a shot and then pulling the cocking slide back, it was pulling the brass end cap out, leaving the plastic bit of cart up the barrel, and thus needing to be removed by hand, it happened once before whilst out in the field, so went home to remove, this time I found a thin piece of wire in the car, bent a hook on it and easily removed the cart, but surely it should not be happening in the first place, the third time it happened was when Id seen my first rabbit with its back to me, I muttered a few choice words
ratbuster
Something to do with the quality of the cartridges ? Try pulling one of the cartridges by hand, does de end cap come lose from the rest ? Isn't a problem which occurs often with a Mossberg (good pump shotgun that is ) Cheers, Rb
unclemicky
Stubby yes it's happened to me , mostly on reloads that I have done and are just slightly tight going into the breach , so now I always pre-check that the carts fit nice and easy into the breach , it does not hardly ever happen with shop bought carts , I now always go shooting with my 410 cleaning kit just in case

stubby
well, an update, I've taken the gun back to essex gun, and asked them to return it under the warranty and have it checked out, as got hold of some new subs, took it out over our woods last weekend, to try and figure out where to point/aim etc, finally figured it out, don't aim, just point, but on loading 3 carts, fire, pull back, it would not grab and eject the fired cart, but instead ejected the 2nd live, you then had to close the action, pull trigger on a fired cart, and eject again, sometimes it would grab and eject and load the 3rd cart, other times it would not, definitely should not be happening on a gun used TWICE!!! and faulty both times lets see how long it takes to come back

archi
My mate had this problem and he took it back to shop who took the extrator claw out and gave it a file and it is now spot on. A decent gunsmith should be able to get it sorted in a matter of minutes
Penfolio
Never had this problem with mine. No doubt the distributor will be able to sort if indeed it's a problem with the gun.
