Highlander
So says the latest report! Funny that as I thought we already did (and get nothing in return) But no this latest report thinks we should pay even more so I guess some bright spark has come up with another way of stitching us up and getting even more money from us to pay to run this country. Even that old trusty tax avoidance vehicle the humnble pick-up is due a tax review this year. No doubt Brown has his eye on the 1000's of owners who could be made to cough up. It used to be the Russians they scared us with into paying taxes now it’s green issues and the environment and soon it’ll be travel. So in the end the Russians won ‘cause under their old/new system only the priviledged few could travel. No doubt politicians and their ilk will be exempt ay 2 jags??? al4x
The government are a joke, they already tax us for inefficient cars by both road tax and fuel duty, Fuel duty is pretty much a pay as you drive tax that hits you the bigger your engine is. All this is is yet another extra stealth tax to hit people who work and stay legal even harder. so in keeping with various topics last week can I shoot Tony Bliar and stay legal under my rimfire conditions. I have vermin on my ticket will that cover him

Axe
I drive a 30 mile round trip to work and back each day. I am currently paying 0.09p a mile in Tax which covers the fact I have a company car and do not pay for road tax or fuel. Even though my employer pays it! The total cost to me a day is £2.70 if this new system comes in i'll be paying £40.20 a day!!!!!! And i'll bet they will still want me to pay the additional 0.09p per mile in tax.!!! I cant imagine anyone letting them get away with this one, even if they abolish the Tax disc.
Highlander
Unfortunately Axe they most probably will get away with it like they do everything else! Why? One word complacency! OR if you want another one...apathy!
il cacciatore
This is all part of carbon emission reductions. If they don't meet their target of cutting by 60% (from 1990) by 2050 then they'll be heavy heavy fines that the tax payer will have to foot. Oh and they know that they can use the motorist as a cash cow because we just simply pay what they ask!
al4x
We have these boxes fitted on our vans so we know what drivers are doing. They report back when the driver is speeding and obviously track everywhere he's been, So in one hit they could make massive amounts from speeding as well My thoughts are it'll come in but the amounts we pay will be lower than the advertised prices but they are saying that it'll only be on major roads at peak times but i just can't see that happening. Bradders
What the hell is happening to this country, so the government wants my wife to pay per mile to get to school to teach the children, the money isnt that great, so how long before it becomes too expensive to travel to work and cheaper to stay at home. My wives school is just 6 miles from home but would require two buses and an hour to get there..... The same goes for all essential services, police, fire, nurses, ambulace drivers, in fact a frien of mine works as a medic for London Ambulance Service and does, as you would expect shift work, and she has to pay the the congestion charge to get to the depot at Waterloo. Come the revolution....... I must admit I am seriously miffed and may well support the Veritas Party, lets hope they have a candidate here in kent. Finnclassic
There are a number of factors which conveniently escape our moronic leaders. 1. CO2 is heavier than air, it does not rise up to the heavens to cause greenhouse effects. CO2 is put there by 2 primary sources - Aircraft and volcanoes (which also put Sulphur dioxide up there too). 2. Ozone is heavier than air, it is created by electrical discharges (lightning) in the upper atmosphere. It can only be dissipated by natural causes and aircraft. 3. When Tony Blair flew to the Green summit in New Zealand his aircraft consumed 250 tonnes of fuel. 4. The real concern regards the 'greenhouse' effect is solar activity which has increased dramatically and our government are NOT publicising that fact - WHY? Because it is more beneficial for them to have us believe our greenhouse problem can be solved by taxation! This is the real cause of global warming and we sit here and happily let our so called government tax us for something that cannot be controlled. http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/sun_output_030320.html http://www.users.myisp.co.uk/~newatl/toola...olar/solar.html
