Early morning corvid attack

Been on here a while yet not had anything to post about, spent most of last season out with the terriers. Well where i work is crawling with rooks and crows even more so with the new generation adding to the numbers. It's a farm with a large comercial feed mill so there is lots of grain and the such like being moved around. The yard is black at times with birds coming in for a free feed which is annoying the hell out of the boss who asked me to come shoot a few. Well i was working nights last week so set a hide up round the back of the shed near some power cables they like to congregate on and left it there a couple of days/ Sunday morning at stupid o'clock i set up with a simple large owl decoy on the bank with a crow decoy sat a few feet away supposedly mobbing it. Straight away into some shooting knocking a few off as they came in for a look. Things went quiet for a bit so i got my magnet out to see if i could draw more in, a couple of dead birds on the frame and it really did catch the attention and pull them over for a nosey. Had an hour of steady action before it went quiet again so i went for a brew in the tearoom with the lads from work then back for another couple of hours knocking them off. Haven't a clue how many i shot as 99% of them dropped in the barley field but i would guess at around 40. I've ordered myself a clicker counter from eblag so next time i will know for sure so i can work out my ratio (that aint going to be high  ) Packed up at nine and went home for breakie, mind you it was getting bloody hot

Not bad considering i bought the magnet nearly a year ago and it's the first time i've used it but it won't be the last now i had a few hours bird scaring

Well done.

There are a lot of youngsters around at the moment and they seme to decoy a little easier.

Was out yesterday with my mate on a dairy farm with some sitty trees near the yard.

I sat under the tree with 2 dead birds out in the field and they just kept coming over to have a look. Admittedly I shot most out of the tree but it was a headcount exercise so they all count. My mate was further away in a hide and shot most of his on the wing when they were the wrong side of the tree for me to shoot at and were so busy looking at the deeks that they went straght over the top of him.

Good day out (very hot) and 40 less corvids to worry about.
