Warwickshire and West midlands country gamefair at Arbury Hall Nuneaton

Hi is anyone going to this on the 17th and 18th August? or have you been before? I know last year was cancelled. What did you think of it?

Admission:
Adults £12 Children £5
Under 5s FREE
Show starts 10am-6pm
Arena Events start 11am

Out of interest do you think the ticket prices should be revised for all game fair/ shows now as times are tough for most? What could they do to promote the game fairs and encourage people to go?

Thanks in advance, this is my first thread, so please be nice :) lol

Hi pinkella, welcome to PW.

I may go on the day depending on weather, I haven't been before.

Price seems fine, for me anything up to £15 is reasonable - if the public don't pay the store holder costs go up and they're having a hard time too so it's got to be in balance. What else could you go for £12 for a full days entertainment?

How much is;

A football ticket for 90 minutes

A cinema ticket for 2 hours

A day at Alton Towers

The value seems good to me? Just personal opinion.

To get people to these shows/fairs takes consistent, year on year, quality of stall holders attending and exhibitions in the ring. With the right blend of those two the twelve quid entry is a bargain. The issue with game fairs is people walking away and saying 'no gun shops, no cartridge suppliers, no shooting equipment' - they've become tailored towards the towny majority and there needs to be a fine line and a balance somewhere.

Just my thoughts.

Hi justjon I totally agree, some of the game fair's I have attended have had beauty products there, now I'm not adverse to that, but a game fair is a game fair, I don't expect to be able to buy anti wrinkle cream lol

I thought the Royal Show at Stoneleigh got a bit like that, the burgers were very expensive and so was the admission! £17 per ticket I think and I don't think there was a discount for kids, just under 4 years or something like that!

  • 4 weeks later...

I won't be far from there on the 18th August.

I'll be at the Battle of Bosworth re-enactment. At Bosworth obviously. I've been before and it's really entertaining, plus there's a good party on saturday night.

If I'm free on the Saturday I might give it a go.

Weathers looking reasonable now for saturday and sunday. I'll be there saturday. Looking forward to it.

Does anybody know what the clayshoot is ?

i.e. 50 bird ? sporting ? how many stands ?

I never shoot clays anymore, but I might just have a go and give everyone a laugh.

Got there at 1030. Some stalls still were not set up.

Took less than an hour to get around the whole fair. A few bargains to be had. Stocked up on a dozen dummies at £3 apiece.

Had a brew (£1.80 for tea, much cheaper than the CLA), chatted to a few people about the dog, another walk around, a run on a couple of scurries, and away for 1230.

Lots of stalls selling stuff that has nothing to do with country sports, but overall pretty good value for just £12 entry. Our first trip this year, but we will be back again next hear.
