tjm160
Please consider signing this ePetition asking for more help for our service men and women who suffer Combat Stress/ PTSD related difficulties as a result of what they are called to see and do on our behalf: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/52697 A small but significant number of Veterans leave the Armed Forces with psychological wounds. These often lead to depression, phobias, anxiety, relationship problems and, in some cases, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Combat Stress provides a dedicated service for UK armed forces Veterans whose lives have been shattered by the horrendous things they saw, heart and smelt while serving their country. Their services are not routinely available in the NHS or elsewhere. Founded in 1919, Combat Stress is the UK's leading charity specialising in the care of Veterans' mental health. We have supported almost 100,000 ex-Service men and women of every campaign that British forces have been involved in since the First World War. They have a current caseload of more than 5,000 Veterans, including 589 who served in Iraq and 228 who served in Afghanistan. Their youngest Veteran is just 18 years old. In the short but sharp Falklands War of 1982, British Forces suffered 255 casualties. It is an immensely sad statistic, that more service men have taken their own lives as a result of combat stress since, than were killed in the conflict itself. More information about Combat Stress and the charity can be found at http://www.combatstress.org.uk/

Malik
Monday just gone. There was a program panorama about this very issue. Some took their own life over this. Very sad. I have signed it Edit - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006t14n/episodes/player Broken by battle. Edited July 17, 2013 by Malik
welsh1
As someone who has suffered from PTSD and used the services of Combat Stress I think it would be disappointing if the government withdrew funding to charities such as combat stress. The staff at their centres are remarkable people who are there in the background ready to help at any time, and you meet people all going through the same as yourself.without these charities there would be little help for ex servicemen apart from local authorities who have no concept of what the services go through. Please sign, you will be helping a serviceman to get his life back together and be able to move forward.
