Davyo
Fac can take months, plus the calibre you require if ganted will more than likely come with a mentoring condition.I would get someone you know and trust who holds Fac with suitable calibre to help you out. Watch , listen & learn, and put a covering letter in with your application that you are tagging along with an experienced gun.On the subject of mentoring there seems to be growing concerns that this should be done by an approved mentor, poss best to put this question to BASC. team tractor
Just apply and put .223 on ticket . When you have an interview you will explain to the feo what you want it for . I have a slot for 223 and no mentoring conditions
searley
Some FEO's are still being funny about deer, and asking for mentors, just getting an FAC with a deer legal calibre does not automatically mean you can shoot them The first thing you need to do is get you letter of permission, stating the calibres you can use, then ask your FEO if the land is cleared and what for... No point putting in a application if the land is only cleared for .22 and the FEO wont clear it for larger. Then when he comes back with the response, tell him what you wish to do, and he will let you know if he is likely to approve it... Hampshire for example are still using mentor conditions.. LEE243
The fact is the firearms act says you should have expierence of these "type of frearms" im with Hants and if you can prove this they dont impose these over retrictive conditions. Apparently the new cc Andy Marsh wants to get away from mentoring and is accepting training (dsc1) as good enough if possible get out with some one who can show you the ropes imo this is the best route.
