turbo33
There seems to be a few about that have been granted an "open" fac licence for a sec 1 air rifle from the off. Then other who have Sec1 air/.22 rim/.17hmr all on a closed cert until the renewal (as I have), when mostly it seems to be opened. My questions are: Does anyone have or has had, an fac licence with the FAC air "open" and the remaining firearms on your cert restricted "closed?" As you have to (so I'm told by my feo) have a "primary" for a firearms cert to be issued, being given an "open" for sec 1 air does seem a bit contradictory? I know different forces have different ideas, but what's your experience?
searley
One of my mates has an fac, his first.. The 22lr, 17hmr and 223 are closed.. The fac air is open, and it was in day 1 I also know someone that after 2 years badgered the FEO until he was given an open ticket Mine is closed, but ive only had vermin permission on mine for a couple of months, i can wait for it to be opened as my FEO inspects land fast

CharlieT
As you have to (so I'm told by my feo) have a "primary" for a firearms cert to be issued, being given an "open" for sec 1 air does seem a bit contradictory? Remember that even with an open condition, you still have to put forward a "primary" as you call it a piece of land for your good reason for grant/renewal of a fac. njc110381
Exactly. The show of use never changes. The reason for the open bit is that once you've proven your need you can go elsewhere, which gives more freedom to the shooter and also lessens the burden on the firearms department. If I had to have all the places I ever shoot cleared it would take them days, yet my whole collection of rifles is based on one piece of land - the biggest one with the widest range of quarry species. karpman
Just putting in for fac air this week, Feo is picking up the forms Thursday. Putting leaf springs on his car. Would like it open from the offset, supplied permission slips for 3 pieces of land that are cleared for higher calibers. But I have many little critter jobs that come and go from rugby clubs, golf courses etc. so would be handy but not the end of the world if closed. That's the last time I go shooting there with anything less than 7mm! Nobody told me there were bears!

Would that be a 7mm Rem mag? And yes, ive had different weapons open/closed at the same time.
