Villager
This is the new addition to the family “Luger†(Well he is a German dog!) He’s 11 weeks brought him home Sunday. Hes quite a handful at the moment but responds well to everything. Iv never met a dog that’s more willing to please! This is my first gun dog after having grown up with collies, and im amazed at the differences already. A quick question though when do guys start introducing a pup to gun shot?, iv read and iv read but still confused! There seams to be a lot of conflicting information on the web from mainly American based websites. Cheers lads Another picture caught him on the sofa this morning
new to the flock
Personnally I would start him now. When you feed him start by banging a couple of pots together or the bottom of one with a wooden spoon, start of fairly lightly gradualy building up the noise. I then switch to a cap gun when he is comfortable with the noise. After the cap gun I take it outside and continue to introduce to load noises, once again starting of gradually and building it up. This way you never have to really worry about introducing a gun persay as the pup is use to the banging noise all along. NTTF

rarms
Take him for a walk around a local clay ground. Took my springer round our local coountless times from about 11 weeks and she is great, hardly even bothers with fireworks either!

Villager
Cheers lads I’m going to introduce him to load noises as soon as possible. I can’t believe how quickly he’s settled in, Mind you he does have a habit of ignoring the mother! He is obsessed with that rayburn, It was a cold night when I brought him back and put him a reasonable distance from the fire to sleep so he didn’t get to hot but he always returns there with toys (Especially shoes he has retrieved) to play with them. We have a guard up to stop him getting to close but I’m taking it off tomorrow so he can used to the thing so the fire wont be lit, Microwave junk for my tea Friday night it is then! Seriously though I’m dead chuffed with him. Russuk that’s a lovely looking dog it looks like a younger version of his mother but his dad was solid liver. Let us know how you get on training him. All the best villager Caught him on the sofa again tonight!
