Marc Z
hi all, sorry for what must be a repeat question, but hell. I have never purchased goose loads before, so went into my local(ish) store with a mind to get some bb or 1 or maybe 2 shot loads. I was, however, recommended some 3 shot carts. They are the Gamebore Mammouths, 36 gm 3 inch. Are these suitable for all round goose carts? I recall hearing good things about these, but am just questioning shot size and why these were recommended over bigger shot (I know, I should have just asked him). Best, MZ
Guest cookoff013
i would go for the bbs or 1s. if these are decoyed geese, quite close then the 3s MAY be up to it. depending on patterns. with 36g there `ll be alot of shot anyway. fenboy
As long as they are not at long range and your putting it up front they will be fine , 3s were my size of choice when you could use lead but I like to go bigger with steel. Marc Z
yeah thanks both. I wouldn't be taking long shots regardless of shot size. Like I say, had it in my head I'd be walking away with BB/1 shot, maybe 3 is the biggest shot they sell.
WelshAndy
For geese I always go for gamebore mammoth steel 3.5" bb's
TIDES EDGE
Mammoth 36gm 3 everytime stops 13lb Canadas so should be fine.
kent
I have dropped Canadas with those shells while ducking. However they are not a goose shell so keep it under 30yds and shoot for the head and neck only. Honestly you need no.1 and up in steel and I prefer BB, BBB or T shot
henry d
Unless they are lead and being used in Scotland...no! 1`s + in steel, not used hevi shot yet but watch this space.
