ozalid
We are putting on a four man 100 bird flush at our clay club for some guests, although some of us have shot these in the past, we are unsure of how to run the event, mainly the trapping sequence? We are using four automatic twin arm traps and a manual rabbit trap. We want to make this a well run event. Could anyone please provide me with advice on how to set this up, trap and score? If you could PM me with contact details, email/phone I could call you to discuss. Many thanks, Al

WGD
100 seems a lot for a flush?
Cosd
100 seems a lot for a flush? Hitclays used to run 100 flushes, was great fun and those extra 25 clays do make the shooting mayem last a lot longer when you are on the stand.... bostonmick
if its just for entertainment does it matter on sequence I think it would make it more interesting just to fire off random birds like a real drive.but good luck with it
ozalid
Good replies guys, you may be right and it doesnt matter about sequence, but we dont want any moaning that any squad got better birds? Although that would be a miracle! I too questioned 100 as I thought 75 might be better, but the general opinion was 100 was better, so thats what we are doing. Still hoping for some experienced guidance Have PM'd Hitclays BTW. Cheers, Al Edited August 21, 2013 by ozalid

aris
HitClays flush in Hertfordshire this year was fun. I hope it happens again next year. I believe he has a computerised trap trigger for multiple traps so each team get the same sequence. Edited August 21, 2013 by aris
welshwarrior
Easiest way to button it is a flush controller if you can get one. Scoring 2-3 people ideally 1 if pushed with tally counters. Count missed birds and take an average of the 2-3. Have a waiting area marked out as people like watch you don't want them smacked by a rogue clay. deershooter
We used to use a cheap battery operated clock with colorued stickers around the face all the button boxes were taped to a table and colour coded one person could operate 8 traps and every squad got the same sequence of birds, use people behind the shooters to count the misses . Elmer Fudd 1
Northampton shooting ground did a 400 bird 4 man flush a few months back with 32 traps!!!!!! tips; top barrels first as single reloads are faster ie one cartridge emergency sort of thing and gun doesn't need opening fully watch each layout to learn the pattern and each gun needs to designate targets ie 2 per shooter or alternatively 3 designated target shooters and a last man on cleanup. fudd they use flush boxes. the trapper presses a single button and the target menu runs its self.if required a dial turns up the speed. a single trapper will button and count all losses on a click tally Edited September 1, 2013 by Elmer Fudd
