keg
I cant see that culling badgers is going to help birds that much when there's tens of thousands of cats roaming where they please killing anything they come across. And this is the point I made to someone who was having a go at me for vermin control and complaining about the lack of songbirds in his garden. The sweet old dear who has tiddles and his pal, yet supports the RSPCA amuses me.
keg
So I wonder if a mass vaccination program of cattle & badgers is possible ? or just to expensive or just down right impossible ? . I don't stalk deer but I do remember from a deer farming course I was on it had got into a deer on one farm & as said one of the deer handlers had got TB from his own heard . al4x is TB in the wild deer heard yet ? it seems strange that badgers are giving it to cattle but as I am aware wild deer have not got it ? The issue seems to be that with current vaccines, when the beasts are tested, we cannot tell which are infected and which are inoculated. That's why the vaccines were banned by the EU. Until they come up with a vaccine that shows up differently, we are stuck.
al4x
indeed you can't then tell what has tb and what doesn't, badger vaccines need to be given yearly for 5 years to be effective and it won't cure badgers with tb they continue to pass it on. Pole Star
I see one of the badgers on the BBC's 'The Burrowers' was culled due TB infection. I wonder what the protesters & sabs will think of that
Imperfection
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2404532/Anti-badger-cull-group-claim-torched-16m-police-firing-range-burned-ground.html Not doing themselves any favours here are they.. I just read that and have come to the conclusion that there would be violent protests if Kellogs withdrew Poptarts. These people need no encouragement or reason to cause trouble because they thrive on this kinda attention and will swear an allegiance to anyone-rather like a flying picket.
