NickB65
just to be crystal clear they didnt confiscate it, they said they "would" if i handed it over for "their" service. quite simply, i asked for them to service my `97 and replace the spring, still keeping it under 12ftlbs. i was clear as i wanted to still shoot targets. they said "IF they`d service it, it "will" be registered as FAC. and i would have to apply for my FAC to acquire my airgun. even though i`d requested it under 12. - i just went elsewhere. When you say twangy do you mean the power fluctuates; it makes a twangy noise when shooting; kicks like a mule or the shots are not very consistent? My HW97 was very twangy as in noisy and kicked like a mule. Took it apart and degreased it, put new seals in and a new spring and it is now a lot more behaved. sorry for any confusion...... Guest cookoff013
after i got another person to sort it out, the spring ends were butchered. power was all over the place, and the accuracy was dire.

Guest cookoff013
My dealings with yet another RFD. what i will say, because i`ve been stung a few times, get a reciept or written quote or work agreement that you have asked the RFD or gunsmith to undertake. ensure it is clear and no odd interpritation can be derived from it. it could simply be "a written reciept" that states what you want. clearly. ie, mainspring replacement under 12ftlbs only...... etc, so, when the RFD decides to throw your gun in the bin, or he decides to destroy / loose your forend of your "really expensive" shotgun. you have extra documentation. if the RFD then decides to tell you to "go do yourself" when you ask for your property back. then proceeds to tell you it is "your obligation to claim on your house insurance" for his mistake (s). you can then persue this issue quickly. ie you can then start a lawsuit against him. - for some strange reason the RFD i once used where this did happen, did not want to go through there business insurance. infact they told me where to go. they left me with no option. they refused to sort it out. later an ex employee and i got chatting. My forend was "destroyed"
Muddy Funker
The gun shop has got it's wires crossed. I've never heard of anything so ridiculous that if you take your gun in to be checked and it's over you can't have it back until you apply for an FAC As has already been stated if a gun is taken above 12 and goes on ticket it stays on ticket regardless of if it's taken back under 12. Quite scary that someone that should really know the rules inside out actually doesn't.
secretagentmole
But not PCP's? how comes? It is but when people are talking about Spring powered guns, you don't need to tell them it can do PCP rifles too!

secretagentmole
It was within a tenth of a foot pound of the Combro, I know I tested the same rifle shot on both units (Combro then Xcortech). If you have a collection like mine (blowback pistols, CO2 pistols, MSP pistols, spring powered rifles, gas ram powered rifles, CO2 powered rifle, PCP rifles), you do really need something that measures speed that does not fit on the muzzle. The Combro is ideal for PCP rifles, recoiling rifles can upset it a bit and it is a complete no no on blowback pistols!
