Look for high efficiency as wood ain't cheap. The Xeoos X5 I have gone for is 93% efficient.

Most now come with cool airflow in front of glass to keep glass cleaner and cooler.

Either traditional or modern.

Fireplaces online website show a good range.

woodwarm I have a bransdale fitted never used the central heating last year as it kept the whole house warm.cost around 1800 with the flue liner fitting but the best money I have spent for years.i would advise against a cast iron one as if it cracks as they sometimes do then its a new one but with the mild steel ones if a part fails you simply replace that panel.

Just had the the chimney sweep bloke round to clean the log burner and he's condemned it. So looking for a new one but as this is new to me not really sure where to look and what sort of money I need to spend, so I thought I'd ask on here.

Whooaaa there stop!!

Get a second opinion - he's a chimney sweep not a plumber or stove installer.

Always get a second opinion -
