RED BEARD
Mot failure diesel land rover,hi-lux or Isuzu will do fine.but I'd say the land rover parts will be the cheapest and the Isuzu the most expensive.
ferguson_tom
MOT failure disco will do the job nicely, £500 should get you something half reasonable but rotten. If you get something that has only just failed it should last you a good few years for what you want. Go for a 200tdi or early 300tdi manual. Alternatively if you want something a bit smaller and lighter on the fields suzuki vitara are cracking little things off road once again up to £500 will get you something half decent but with bit of rust. NIGHT SEARCHER
An old Shogun or a 4 track thats an MOT failure on body not a rotten chassis. Have a look on Auto trader and ebay there`s loads of old discos out there. They rot badly on the boot floor and inner and outer sills. I got my lads an old fiat panda 4x4 for off road use and they loved it. They both learned to drive in it and they both passed there test first time with very few lessons at 17. Plus + 1 on putting a roll cage in it i did on the panda just to keep the kids safe. Edited September 23, 2013 by NIGHT SEARCHER
four-wheel-drive
Vitara's are just the job but most are not diesel I am selling my vitara as it uses to much petrol but not in your price range I would say get a Disco if you are only using it on your own farm land you can use cheap red diesel so even cheaper to run with luck free from the land owner for free pest control. If dad will run to it how about one of these second hand it should not be to expensive.
