Longbower
Hi All, well I have done the deed , and purchased a Hatsan Escort in 20g flavour. I took it down to the permission, with a few decoys , sat in the hedge and had a pop at some pigeons that came into range. Now , I had put the 1/2 Choke into the right end , and I was using 28grams of No6. The birds seemed to fly right through the shot, was this the wrong choke , to use at 35-40 yards.? henry931
The only way to find out for sure is by patterning it
Longbower
Hi, I put a pattern board up and at 35yrds , good coverage with 1/2 choke. tighter with 3/4 , so its probably me rather than the gun.
wymberley
Assuming the pattern density doesn't change - this can and often does happen with different cartridges - you could try 6 1/2s (2.5mm). If you're going to be short of anything with a 20 bore, it's more likely to be pellet count than energy.

Then you may want to try Churchill method of stock fit test.
