would have thought, if it went back for repair, then they would have checked it all out and not sent it back firing under the limit,

this is'nt a dig at you, but are you sure your aiming/rangefinding is upto scratch as theres a lot of difference between shooting targets in the garden, and then going out to shoot live quarry, if it was the 1st rabbit in all them years then the adrenalin was probably pumping, giving you slight shakes etc, unless your absolutly steady, it may look like a perfect head shot through the scope, but the slightest movement on pulling the trigger, could mean you hit him in the neck, or forward of the eyes would just hit the nasal passages, again a reason for the rabbit to have a jumping fit then run/drag itself off

this could happen with any make air rifle, I too have the S410 and find it absolutly brilliant at despatching rabbits out to about 45yds at 11.5lbs, but in the early days(like you after many yrs absent) had my fair share of the perfect head shot, only for them to run off

I have added a harris bi-pod to my set up, which makes quarry shooting (rabbits) a dream

again a bad workman always blames his tools

I think admin should delete this thread and sent a p.m. or email to this chap and explain politely  what the score is.

He has had the "score" explained to him.

"I believe the legal limit for a non FAC air weapon is 12ft per lb.

If you do not have an FAC it is illegal to modify your weapon .

Peter having a powerful air rifle dont makes it inprove in performance your best leaving it alone, 12lbs is the legal limit as you and all others know?, it takes only 2ftlbs to kill rabbits and pigeons and other small vermin. only FAC air rifles use there power for longer range at targets, your not knocking down anything big best to learn how to stalk and get clouser to your query after this you'll find using the legal limit of power is just as good

I've seen 6ft/lb at the quarry end (not the muzzle) fail to despatch a large rabbit. That was with a perfect shot BUT with the rabbit front on. 6ft/lb simply couldn't make it through the skull even in .177. Side on it'd have probably done the job but front on it didn't. I know as I took the shot and also the second one that killed it. The first shot was embedded in the skull on a direct path to the brain but didn't reach. Never took another front on shot after that.

I think you know what I meant Cranfield.

I know what you put in your post but this just draws attention to stupid things. A quiet word can save a public flaming which in turn degenerates into a slanging match. If the person has his/her head screwed on they will respect your point. If they insist on being a numpty then action can be taken.

Just my opinion, but what the heck do I know.
