HDAV
OK So willpoon got a a hankering for a trap gun and got a perazzi........... (I must be in the wrong job) I am having a hankering for something similar So having shot some DTL (I have found i like watching paint dry) and had a go with an old 101 trap gun and it was awesome to shoot! So what cheap trap guns are out there? MK38 a given but fancy something a bit different. Perhaps a winchester or something older a bit different perhaps...... Oh and needs to suit a leftie.............
hedd-wyn
Well Dav, I have the Parker Hale (identical to the Winchester Grand European) and paid £500 for it in near mint condition. There was one for sale on here not long ago and noticed the Seller had added this gun on the 'guns you regret selling' thread. They can still be bought i think they were made in the 80s? Gordon R's your man he's very knowledgeable about these guns and their history. Oh aye, Im a leftie and mine has a straight stock so get along fine with it. HDAV
Yeah the parker hale had crossed my mind, but there are a few that aren't winchesters..... Italian ? Which i wouldn't be so keen on. It would be quite cool to find one made the year i was born.... (see which stands the test of time better!) My thoughts so far are: Winchester 101 Trap/Grand XTR/6500 Parker hale Browning Liege

welshwarrior
An old sliver action beretta 682 trap couple on GT for £800 Miruko 3800s are always about very good gun IMHO even if they are Brownings. All the Winchester 101s whatever brand are worth a look Are at around £1000 Rento Gamba Daytona as good if not better than Perazzi but cheaper. HDAV
Thanks quite fancy a gamba if I can find one, top of the list would be an American Winchester or Belgian browning
Gordon R
If I could find a Gamba Trap at £1000, I would buy it to stick in the cupboard. I have looked at a few in recent years. Some were dogs, others were around £2.5k. Doveridge have one at present £2.3k - ramped rib and about 18 years old. Not my idea of a bargain. utectok
I here Miruko are pretty straight stocked so might suit a leftie my friend is a south paw and finds it ok I personally think a left handed cast stock is the way to go I never looked back after I got one (get a nice beretts stock and you can usually swap it onto any 680's series gun? HDAV
I have a cast on 525 sporter would be happy with a straight stock as long as it fits and I can shoot well with it......adjustable comb and straight stock with no palm swell or toe angle would be ideal

Gordon R
welshwarrior - I have been looking for a Daytona. The Le Mans looks similar - I presume about 20 years old. Still looks a lot of gun for the money.
The Ghost
Winchester 101 I have one and got it for when my brother in law comes down to the Fens shooting and as a spare, he is left handed. I cant leave it at home now and use it more and more, not sure why but I shoot well with it....Cost £265 off Wabbitbosher who is also a left hooker and he shot well with it.
