Decoys - full bodied or shell advice

Hi folks

Just after a little advice please.........

I have 12 shell non flocked coated decoys that I've been using for a number of years, but I fancy treating myself to some new ones.

This time I will definately go for flock coated but I can't make my mind up whether to get shell again or full body. I appreciate that the shells are much easier to carry, but half the time I'm shooting virtually out the back of the landrover so that's not major concern and if I did have a very long walk I could revert back to using my old shells.

What I want to know is are the full bodied better at attracting the pigeons than the shell? I have recently bought some full bodied flock coated crow decoys from A1 Decoys and they are brilliant and so life like it's unreal. That's given me a lot of confidence with full bodied.

What do people think please? Are the full bodied better? Can you mix full bodied and shell?

Many thanks in advance. Jon

I would go for shells not used full bodied for years, but don't have no problem with them wanting to land in the pattern although they get shot before they land or shot at. If your in the right place and the pigeons are it wont matter what your using. Suppose full bodied will be better if your using an air rifle.

full body decoys would be more adaptable meaning you could use them lofted in trees or perched on hedges etc. you would have to take good care of them though as not to damage the flocked coating.

a friend uses FUD decoys and rates them very well, so they are worth a look.

personally i use dead birds on cradles as i have yet to find anything as good.

I use both but then I load up my ranger and can get every where I want to with out a problem. Shells are good if weight is a problem as long as you set them up correct with the wind direction.

I think it really don't matter what you use as long as it works and your getting the full enjoyment of the moment.

I use FUD's all the time and I have no issue getting them to land in the pattern and they are easy to carry and store...... if only hitting them was as easy :-)

I will be getting some more to put in hedges and for lofting and these will be flocked full body but the flocking is easy to damage so I will use the FUDS on the ground and keep the flocked for the hedges and lofting.
