Ollieollie
Hi Mate, Had the exact same prob on mine(04), its the power steering belt, or at least it was in my case, mine was all sheered so it wasnt gripping the wheel/cog properly, replaced the belt with a new one(about 10 quid i think) and problem solved. It was quite a pain in the derriere getting the new belt on and under tension, ingenuity required!! PM if you require any more info. Cheers Ollie
Mike737
The belt would be my first suspect as well. Hope it's nothing more expensive, Mike.
Paddy Galore!
the pump isn't that expensive, just a pain to fit as it requires the front of the van out inc the rad. the water pump is joined to it and runs off the same belt if i remember correctly. Lord Geordie
It does sound like a slipping belt! I went to pick up a boat one day in Hartlepool, when I arrived there was a chap laying under the front of a transit! I paid him no heed as he was cussing at the time! I approached the door and.ran the bell! No answer! I knocked on the door, and he slid out from under the van muttering to himself and quite clearly peeved. Problems? I asked! BOOM! F this F that been at it all bloody day trying to fit a new belt but he couldn't get it on as it was too long. I clambered under and took a gander? Took me about 2 mins to pop it into place  I was given a boat engine for free with the boat
