Cosd
As usual I expect a load of stick, but hey ho. We're really pleased that after some hard work especially from Marko (Highbird) the Portuguese Pointer is now a recognised breed in the UK..... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/lifestyle/pets/10438343/Meet-Britains-newest-pedigree-dog.html
oscarsdad
Lol! I saw that - the dog in the article is not as nice looking as Mark's Mona... As I said to Mark - let's hope the Kennel Club don't ruin another breed of dog with their silly ideas and breeding practices. JDog
I am not sure if that is good news or not. The Kennel Club has been run badly for as long as I can remember. It is up to Cosd and Highbird70 to show the rest of the shooting community, and particularly working dog owners, that the breed deserves a place in the shooting field. Totally agree, but being KC registered is still something many people look for as we see all too often here when people are selling pups. There is still much work to be done before the breed is respected as a hunting breed here in the UK, but everything has to start somewhere! Yes I was a little baffled why they chose that particular dog for the photo, I wouldn't say that is the best dog for the "advert" of the breed, and knowing many of the dogs involved in getting the KC to recognise the breed, I don't recognise this one. cocker boy
The kennel club do not breed dogs. The kennel club do not ruin breeds. The breed club that write the standard and the people that breed fuin the dogs. The kennel club is only a register. If the wheels fell off your car would you blame the dvla?. Lol! silver pigeon 3
Good on you, under what "banner" does the kennel club put the breed (i.e gundog, utility etc) Of the dogs in the country how many are active working gundogs and across the rest of the population overseas is there a lot of workers or has the breed gone more down the pet or show route? Salop Matt
The back end looks pretty sloped too which I know can cause problems in German Shepods etc with hip displacure. Is it an issue for this breed also ? ATB Matt
