BigEd85
Hi Johnny, I’ve had a go with the 12g and done a review on the .410 hushpower. Regarding the noise, I’m afraid everyone’s perception of volume varies. The subsonics do make a noticeable difference and work best when you really are trying to keep noise to a minimum. Saying that though if you are shooting at pigeons (rough shooting or from a hide) normal cartridges work just fine and the guns report is reduced to good effect scaring less of them away. I move from one small wood to another on my perm and it helps me a lot. Every little helps. I have even shot a rabbit one side of a hedge then crossed over to the other and shot another one! P.S It is important to have a go on a pattern plate as your point of aim is very different!! Ed
tigger got stichs
I love mine so much I'm going to start loading my own subs coz it's gotta be cheaper than running around trying to find someone who keeps them on the shelf plus theres not agreat choice of loads/shot size. as long as you don't shoot towards a close obstruction wood/hedgerow the noise reduction is great but better with true subs just don't take long shots as the pellets do have reduced striking energy at long ranges I find I was wounding birds more at any thing over 35/40 yards
theshootist
I have a Greener GP which I had converted to a full length hush power. Its like carrying and pointing a big bit of drain pipe. I presonally use normal shells. You can sheet it without ear defence with no bother and its quiet, but not nearly as quiet as a HP .410, even with subs. Have a look at the diameter of the 12g moderated barrels, you may decide the 20g is a better compromise.
aris
Has anyone tried measuring with a sound meter on a 12/20/410 hushpower? There are a few free iPhone apps which will measure sound and peaks.

aris
Unfortunately they are just not accurate enough. They can give a general idea of how much quieter they are than a un-moderrated shotgun.
Catweazle
They do work well, especially with subs, but I found mine so difficult to use I had to put a red dot sight on it. I was constantly shooting low with it and couldn't seem to adjust to it, the sight is a reflex type with just one lens at the front and it works very well on a shotgun, both eyes open.
