Mentalmac
Hi guys. I know this isn't anything unusual but thought I would share with you all. I have spent all week consoling my step daughter after some let downs from her real dad and I promised her we would go shooting with my rifle this weekend. She often does some targets with me and does very well making good groups. So we went out and went for a walk with the gun and enjoyed being with the resident donkeys and then moved onwards. We spotted a rabbit at approx 80 yards and I said to her to get down next to me and ill set it all up. I got it all dialed up and ready and then let her move over to me to help. l whilst I moved to the left slightly. I whispered for her to let the safety off when ready and to breathe and to take her time. We waited for a good shot and the trigger was squeezed and connected perfectly just above eye which was bang on. The crack set off a whole plethora of wildlife and I that we spotted a cock bird stumbling around by hedge not managing to make flight and with a pronounced limp, obviously pricked from yesterday's game shoot the next fields along. So I followed with scope and when he stopped I took him out to end his misery. On the way to pick up our game a grey ran accross out path and made the mistake of stopping 35 yards odd on a low (4 foot) fence making it a safe shot so I took a standing shot and took him too. I forgot to take a photo of the full bag due to being very pleased seeing the euphoria on my step kids face.. We then enjoyed a spot off gentle off road driving with the beautiful sunset to look at. A perfect afternoon out and a great way of cheering the kiddo up. Edited December 9, 2013 by Mentalmac
fenboy
Nice write up , I would think if he keeps letting her down you will be quickly promoted to the "real dad " position !

UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGENo-one under the age of 14 may use a Section 1 Firearm except for target shooting as amember of a Home Office approved rifle club; or at a shooting gallery where no rifleslarger than .23 inch calibre are used (e.g. at Fairs). Mentalmac
lol. daft isn't it. Haha yea, it's more controlled and much calmer than a shotgun and gives you as a parent time to ensure its a safe shot before you let them do safety off etc, so makes it a fairly good way of learning. Plus the bipod and lack of recoil makes it a doddle :-)
