Anonymouslemming
Hi all, I'm trying to work out the sizing of shotgun cartridge sizes. Is 73mm 3"? My Hantsan is steel proofed and 3". But most stuff I'm looking at is measured in mm. Thanks,
steve_b_wales
75mm is 3 inch. You can get away with using 70mm (2-3/4) for most shooting needs, and these will cycle okay through the shotgun.

Just don't want to buy the wrong thing I use 70mm for clays and wasn't sure what the extra 3mm meant.
fenboy
Always thought 3" guns were 76 mm 76mm = 2.99" I dont think you can buy a 73mm cartridge , they are generally 67mm , 70mm or 76mm Edited December 10, 2013 by fenboy
Big Mat
I'm fairly sure you can get a 73mm cartridge, i think i've got some empties here that are 73mm Some cartridge manufactureres just like to be funny sometimes, you don't need the extra 3mm sometimes so it might save them a couple of pennies per box! You'll also find some 3 1/2" cartridges marked up as 86mm, whereas 3 1/2" is 89mm Edited December 10, 2013 by Big Mat
