Tim Kelly
Sounds as awful as driven duck. Possibly worse.

scolopax
Seen occasional geese that keepers have reared up with their mallard growers, not specifically for shooting though. They have always been very tame and on a shoot day flown in circles around the pond at the height of 20 feet.

One Club I am in did 20 greylag this year, everyone under orders not to shoot any "green" geese acting suicidal. Idea is to get some fresh blood in the existing birds. I have been selecting the most wary birds all season so far as you have to phone the Chairman and tell him if you get one with all its ring details.I suspect have others have had similar levels of caution. Breeding and releasing just for the shooting season stinks.
clay shooter
Our keeper has bred graylag and released on to the 3 woodland ponds on the estate..All they do is look stately as they wonder around..until they cackle out aloud when there wild cousins arrive... Then they scarper quick into the reed beds or onto their man made island. They work as great decoys.
