Hi all, ive got a small field with a wood jist behind which has a pond in the middle, sadly the wood isnt on my permbut in the evenings theres duck passing straight over it to go somewhere else and some are dropping in the pond, do tou think putting some decoys in the field and try calling them in will work or am I just wasting my time, and just shoot them as they passing?

Duck will not pull to deeks if its not a place they want to be, a dry field? forget it, duck hate landing on dry land at the best of times so I doubt they will even drop down look.

If they are not in range the only option is get some water

I've seen them go onto dry stubble? But that's early season.

Try flighting them at night or wait for a field to flood a little?

It happens, we feed them on a bend in the river and they cannot clime out at this spot, so they land on terra firma - stubble strewn with wheat is just the same ( I doubt the Op wants to start spreading tonnes of feed, likely hood is he will get every bird other than duck on it anyhow., Duck want to land on water for good reason they are adapted for it, very bad at landing on hard ground (feet too far back and wearing flippers)
