Plumber Help - Self Cutting Taps

Tam if your fitting in copper put a 15 mm screw down valve inside your house that way you can close it and drain down the outside tap in the winter saves it freezing and blowing the pipe or the ouside tap if a compression fitting also saves any farting about trying to lag the tap,

As others have said-get a refund and get a proper one plumbed in.

 

One gave way in a company i worked for and the offices looked like a paddy field when i unlocked them in the morning.

Looking to fit an outside Tap & bought a kit at B&Q - this works with a self cutting tap water feed. You tighten the clamp round the pipe, screw in the valve & it self cuts in to the feed pipe, attach hose to outside tap, open valve & good to go -

1) Are there any problems known with these

 

2) Are they OK to use on copper pipe

 

3) Will the small disc cut out the pipe cause any problems (now it's in the water system)

Cannot see the point its an hour of a job tops with compression fittings, a solution to a problem that doesn't exist! If you think a problem exists then you maybe need to call a plumber to do the job

Gas pipe is a different diameter isn't it?

No its the same but should be identified with yellow tape.

I know of someone who fitted one of these to a gas pipe by mistake about 4 yrs ago, and it's still there

 

 

How can you do that "by mistake"?
