strangford wildfowler
Hello all I'm just wondering what is the cheapest air gun that can actually kill things? And yes I'm a cheap skate so the cheaper the better, help would be much appreciated.

I have a mate with a 30 year old springer that he uses to take down flies and wasps with the little blast of air from the barrel. I'm sure one like that might only cost you £30 or so

FalconFN
The cheapest would be the SMK B2 at around £40, I wouldn't shoot live prey with one though as they are inaccurate and underpowered. Some of the Hatsans are good value as are the SMK 19 and 20, or there is Stoeger to try. Personally I would spend a bit more and get a decent second hand Springer, an HW80 or BSA lightning can be got for £150 if you are lucky. Therealchucknorris
I know you're across the water but it could be worth taking a quick look on GunTrader, there are Hatsan Strikers on there for around £100 brand new. They are full powered non-FAC rifles (on the mainland anyway). As they have a synthetic stock you should be able to take them out all weathers and not worry too much about bashing them around. Unless you find a friend / someone local giving up or trading up you may not find an adult / full powered rifle much less than this but it's always worth asking around at your local club too. rapid rich
As you're in NI you should be able to pick up a sub12 fpe model at a good price, on the mainland its vice-versa and fac rated air guns are cheaper there. Shop around and buy something decent, if airgunning turns out not to be your thing you can always sell it again. Rich

David M
A great airgun hunter called David James (known as Hunters Vermin on YouTube) comes from NI and I'm sure he said you need to hold an FAC licence over there to shoot any power of airgun, best look into that mate before you start spending if you haven't got the required paperwork.... If you have, I managed to pick up a secondhand tuned .22 B20 (same as a Weihrauch 95 and SMK XS20) spring gun that I used to great effect hunting for a couple of years for £80. I put a £50 scope on it and it is well up to hunting accuracy (pound coin size groups and under) out to 30 yards....... I did up a B2 for my nephew for his birthday, I think it has plenty of power at around 9ft lbs the problem is the awful trigger! Which makes shot placement very difficult. NIGHT SEARCHER
Air Rifles in NI are on FAC. Have a look for a second hand HW 80 or HW 77. Webley Patriot 25 ftlb gun. I would look at Hatsans the 50. 60. and 1000s Striker. They are powered down for the UK market. With very little work and a new spring they can do 20-22 ftlb. I would have a word with Edgar Bro they are the main importer and sell mostly FAC and Fire Arms. www.Edgarbrothers.com They are Excellent. Always give you top service. Good Luck. And Happy
