Dirtboy
I have an old (80's) WInchester Model 101 12 guage that developed a bulge in one of the barrels !! Naturally, just sat in the cabinet and not used since I noticed it. I want to know if I can sell this off in parts as some are hard to find in teh UK and it might help someone out who has a battered one - things like stocks and forends are notoriously hard to find even in the USA. Is this permitted and if so how do I go about this keeping the FLO happy ? Advice greatly received cheers
silverhawk
If you Strip the gun yourself hand the rfd the barrel, bare action, you can keep the parts firing pin and ejectors etc. The rfd will hand u a receipt as scrap and you just notify your force it was scraped at that rfd. HDAV
May be able to take barrels to police and get them to scrap it off your ticket.
Dirtboy
Cheers all, do you think its worth a call to the FLO just to see ?
AULD YIN
Took my old .22 tyrol bolt action into police headquarters and spoke to the FLO ,stripped it in there and left the the barrel/breech and part of the bolt with them ,got receipt and certificate amended and left with everything else, would rather give the parts away to someone who needs them than scrap the lot, mind you i still have the parts. johnnie Edited January 5, 2014 by AULD YIN
Dirtboy
Another thought would be to sell it as a whole, albeit clearly stating it's defects and that it's for parts only ? Is that ' not the done thing ' ? Would there be any liability to consider or equally would this cause problems with the FLO as I'm about up for renewal and wouldn't want to jeopardise that. Any experience of this ? Looked through ' Trading Post ' here but all for sale are fully working.

Gunman
Why not get it sleeved with 32 inch barrels then you will have pretty rare gun ! You could quite legally sell the stock action and forend to another licenced person providing you do the necessary notifications .It is the barrel which can not be sold if deemed out of proof due to bulges ,these could be handed into the police thus covering you in the eyes of the law .
