went out to get myself a cwd today there has been quite a few on our land recently so went to 2 adjoining fields 110 acre and 130 acre open arable land where these deer love,

only saw one today sat out in field about 200 odd yards,

now these deer normally will sit tight when they see you out walking witch makes it a bit easy (cheating really) but as our game dealer don't have any in at the moment and i need to make so more game sausage for the shop this week (winner of Bedfordshire's best contemporary sausage) and in demand

so i said to the boss not to worry i will pop out and get a cwd,

famous last words,

first spotted said deer about 9.30 so walking very slowly and carefully i start off after it got to about 100 yards so decided that was close enough as my triple is zeroed at bang on 100,

only took my short sticks as i shoot better with them kneeling down,

so knelt down and as i placed gun on the sticks it was up and off.

this happened about half a dozen time's each time it would run off about 2-300 yards and stop again about 11.45 i was absolutely cream crackered.

these 2 fields were very claggy and every 20-30 yards my boots would be like lead.

so off i went back to my car sat down poured myself a cup of coffee took my cap off and raised my coffee mug to him.

next time

I can vouch for Bedfordshire clag; a friend has a farm over Wilden way.

Isnt it always the same. you walk and they are happy to stay looking, you stop and their off. like blackie and hares.

my .222 is -4" @ 200 if i zero @ 100 but i zero at 157, or 1.25 over @ 100. which gives me -2.7" @ 200.

Love my Trip2

yeah it's not so much the working out the drop it's more a case of me feeling confident at range off sticks with a better support i would of taken the shot a lot further out,

as i kneel down to shoot of short sticks i think it's that that spooks they sure with long stick standing they would carry on sunbathing

I'm the same. I can't shoot off cross sticks. I can't shoot of bipods either so have leart to use the quad sticks. I'm very happy with this style now. It might be worth looking into. Ask njc to take a set over to the Cotswold do.

No I'm not this year Colin else you would be more than welcome to use an adult set.

Don't forget to take a spade with you. All the blokes there with quad sticks are munchkins with short sticks so you might have to did a hole to get down to their height.

lol we have not met then

well before leeds chimp jumps in here i will tell you i stand 5"5 in my high heels
