super sharp shooter
Thinking of changing my 4x4 to a Terrano and was wondering what they are like. Your views please.
fruity
I have an 04 looked at a fair few before I found a good one, some seam to suffer badly from rust on the under side Just my personal view of course all in all a nice 4+4 a bit agricultural but I can live with that as it does what I want it to do , I do find it a little heavy on fuel aslo Hope that's of some help
ferguson_tom
I had one for a year or so and was a good truck but the ride was pretty firm, the suspension only seemed to start working when i moved 1/2 ton a coal in it. The 2.7 engine is bomb proof so assuming been well looked after will last for years. Its quite narrow for its size as well so getting 3 adults in the back is a tight squeeze. They rust in the front wheel arches but if you are looking at 2006 that shouldn't be a problem. Offroad i never got stuck even when towing a laden trailer across a very muddy field. I am assuming your not getting rid of the shogun for it... but if you are then i would stick with shogun. robbiep
We've got a 3 door 2003 2.7 (manual box) with 90k on the clock. It's a bit basic, agricultural, call it what you like. But with proper tyres on it, it's as good as any other 4x4 in mud or snow, and comfortable enough for driving 40-50 miles quite easily. Probably 27 mpg. As previously said, you do need to look out for rust (arches, also by rear bumper and tailgate)

delburt0
Good reliable cars just watch out for rot on the rear seatbelt anchors ,back of the sills , and the favourite front wings.
ferguson_tom
No mate keeping the shogun. So all this will be used for will be a shooting truck. In that case mate you would be hard pushed to find a better shooting truck for the money. Also look out for damp front footwells they have an issue where the panels at the bottom of the windscreen where the seals go and so you get a wet floor. By time i realised it was too late and the underlay was sodden and mouldy The actual seals was an easy fix took about half hour.. See you soon. Rimfireboy
Never had any problems other than a Broken wire under the dash. Brilliant engines, gear driven cam, no belts or chains to worry about. They use them in the black cabs, so that says something about longevity of the engine. Mines auto, cos I'm lazy,lol.....I'll probably use mine until it dies altogether. Hopefully that'll be a while yet,as it's been relentless so far with just basic maintenance. Colc08
i too am looking at a Terrano after a little looking around at other options. Thinking of going for the commercial version in 3.0 diesel. Am I right in saying though that from 56 plateon onwards the tax is a whopping £495 a year? robbiep
the higher tax does NOT apply to the commercial versions.
