limestone_cowboy
Hi all, I have several buildings with exposed beams that I need to treat for woodworm. Most of the wood is oak and some softer woods. I was wondering if anybody on here was a bit of a specialist in wood treatment, that could advise me on the best treatment? Any help appreciated regards LSC
JABB
Get down to a proper builders merchants and get a large can. We got one which was a general wood preserver and worm killer and it was about £15 for 5l You can paint it on or spray it
limestone_cowboy
Thanks for that. I would probably need at least 25 litres given the amount of wood I have to treat. Which is the best value for money brand? Barrentines seems up there, as does Cuprinol, both about £100 for 25l
Fisherman Mike
Try these people..http://www.woodworm-info.co.uk/woodworm%20shop.htm However if they are old buildings which have the possibility of Bat habitation be exceedingly careful to check for evidence...even if you cant see any bats roosting you may have to use a BAT friendly preservative or you could leave yourself open to a massive fine. It might be more economical to get a quote from a specialist in your area to do the lot in one hit.
sandspider
I ended up with Cuprinol 5 Star Complete Wood Treatment. Haven't applied it yet, but I will do before the weather warms up and the little ******* look to move...

team tractor
We use sovereign chemicals and it's by far the best you can get. If you want some you can get it through us but were based in tamworth . We supplied the M6 toll road with their logs and gravel boards after using the dipping solution . What makes you think you have wood worm ? Remember flight holes are where they have left. To add we use a brush and swamp it on Edited January 30, 2014 by team tractor
limestone_cowboy
I have it on good authority to treat the beams etc with woodworm treatment. there are flight holes and better safe than sorry. I forgot to mention the buildings are in mid-France, if that makes any difference to the treatment required? The buildings are not yet renovated but I thought treat now, then I know it's done. Bien sûr que oui! vous pouvez nous avez dit que avant. Quéquette! Le français ne faites pas avoir des problèmes avec les chauves-souris. Ils les mangent à l'ail. Vous devrez acheter le conservateur en France.! Edited January 30, 2014 by Fisherman Mike
