second barrel problems

My old lanber is having problems selecting the second barrel after the first shot. If I fire the bottom barrel first it will select the top barrel for the second shot perfectly but if i switch and fire the top barrel first it won't select the next barrel. It does exactly the same if I dry fire it and smack the end of the stock. Any suggestions guys.

Thanks

Andy.

I've had exactly the same problem but with a different gun in the past.Take the stock off and look, you will see the problem if you try firing the problem sequence.I am not knowledgeable enough it explain it in more detail.

Older Lanbers had an adjusting screw on the trigger mechanism that needed to be set as it regulated the length of the trigger stroke relative to the sear or gating as it is called .If it is one of these then the screw could have come loose or needs adjusting to compensate for wear . There have been numerous changes to the design over the last 30 years with some later models reverting to earlier patterns so it is difficult to give precise advice .

It could also be muck, weak springs or plain old wear and tear that may need the sears re-set to engage on a dressed inertia block . With out stripping and assessing its all assumption

Andy , I do this for a living and believe me when I say single triggers can be a night mare . You spend an hour looking dry firing checking etc. put the stock back on , test fire and it dose not work ,again . Problem is that you can not see what is happening or not happening when you shoot it and it is difficult to create the same effects of true recoil in a work shop situation .No always so ,but be warned .
